Course Description

This year-long course develops students’ Arabic phonetics specifically for reciting the Qur’an. It is suitable for complete beginners in Tajweed (who can already read Arabic) as well as those with some prior knowledge and ability, ensuring everyone feels included and encouraged to improve.

Students will study some rules of Tajweed, have an opportunity to implement them in their Qur’an reading, and, lastly, learn to recite some surahs by rote.

This course includes the following modules. For more information, please click on the relevant level.

• Tajweed Level 1 – Foundations of Tajweed
  • Starts in May 2026, 10 weeks, 3 hours (Total 30 hours)
• Tajweed Level 2 – Applying the Rules of Recitation
  • Starts in September 2026, 10 weeks, 3 hours (Total 30 hours)
• Tajweed Level 3 – Mastering Qur’an Recitation
  • Starts in January 2027, 10 weeks, 3 hours (Total 30 hours)

Duration:
30 weeks (90 hours in total) – delivered over 3 terms

Who is it for & what are the prerequisites:
You must have completed either the Introduction to Arabic and Tajweed course or have acquired equivalent knowledge.

Progression:
Students who complete this may progress to the Advanced Qiraa’ah course.

Assessment
Students will be assessed at the end of the course.

This course is run either on-site or online, allowing you to select your preferred option and feel in control of your learning experience.

All students will receive the relevant course details and materials 5 days before the course starts. This will include:

• Link to Google Classroom to interact with teachers, receive additional course material and information (if applicable).
