Course Description

Level 5 of EC’s comprehensive Arabic Intensive Modular programme concludes any outstanding grammar rules from both Syntax and Morphology. Its focus thereafter will be on reading a varied selection of Arabic Literature texts, inspiring students to deepen their cultural understanding and appreciation of Arabic heritage. The stories of Nuh, Salih and Musa (‘alaihimus salam) will be covered from Qasas an-Nabiyyeen.

Moving on, students will be introduced to Arabic Grammar using an Arabic text like al-Aajrumiyyah or an-Nahwul Wadih. The purpose of this would be to introduce students to Arabic grammar taught in Arabic and, likewise, to make other Arabic texts accessible to them. Lastly, this will reinforce any gaps in Arabic grammar knowledge from previous years.

Duration: 12 weeks (36 hours in total), 3 hours each lesson

Prerequisites: The ability to read Arabic and study of Arabic Intensive Modular – Level 4, or its equivalent.

Progression: Arabic Intensive Modular – Level 6

Course Brief:

The topics of Syntax and Morphology, which will be covered in this module, are:

  • an-Na’t
  • Tawkeed
  • al-Badl
  • ‘Atf Nasq
• Complex verbs
• Doubled verb
• Hamzated verb

Assessment
Students will be assessed through a combination of written assignments and participation at the end of the course to ensure a comprehensive and fair evaluation process.
