Course Description

Level 4 of EC’s comprehensive Arabic Intensive Modular programme focuses on modern and classical Arabic, aiming to inspire students seeking to deepen their proficiency. It is one of the most thorough coverages of classical Arabic and grammar available, designed to motivate learners to achieve higher language mastery. In Level 4, students will build on the standards achieved in Levels 1-3 and progress to studying more complex texts directly in Arabic, fostering a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their abilities. This progression continues at levels 5 and 6, enabling students to read fluently with a broad understanding of texts and converse confidently across various themes.

Duration:
12 weeks (36 hours in total), 3 hours each lesson

Prerequisites: The ability to read Arabic and completion of Arabic Intensive Modular – Level 3, or its equivalent, ensuring students feel prepared and capable of succeeding in this advanced course.

Progression: Arabic Intensive Modular – Level 5

Level 4 will focus more on consolidating the grammar covered in the previous modules. It will provide students with the opportunity to implement all that they have learnt so far. This will be achieved by reading various texts and sampling Quranic and Hadith texts. A few topics of Syntax and Morphology will be covered in this module as well:

• Haal – The Accusative of State
• Numbers 1-99
• Tamyeez – The accusative of the specification
• Al-Mustathna – The exceptive form
• The Assimilated verbs
• The hollow verbs
• The Defective Verbs

Assessment
Students will be assessed at the end of the course.
